I appreciate the comments on my picture in the Fire Challenge. I know if I had more time I could have pulled this one off better. Just thought I would post the picture again with the details of how it was taken as I am not sure the picture itself was good enough to elicit the "How did You do it" feeling I was going for. Also, I'm not sure I was able to effectively portray the message of the title so that the picture was understood. Thanks for looking! |

I gave this image a 5. I understood the joke and the idea is very good, but it looked staged and I felt the intent was to look more natural as part of the joke.
Photographically you captured flame very well, but standard elements of good photography, such as perspective and DOF were not employed. Either or both would have made the image more interesting to look at. The dramatic background trees, which would be good in other images, draw the eye away from your main subject and are distracting. Perhaps taken from above looking down with shallow DOF around the flaming hand or cell phone with either or both positioned on standard ROT positions in the frame would have made a more interesting image.
The general overall technical quality of the image also contributed to my valuation.

Steve, Your comments are well taken. I can see where the improvements you have suggested would have made this a better picture photographically. I appreciate your opinion. |
