Typically the charge you less for the coffee, like most coffee shops. |
Really? That makes sense, and would be a wise way to do it. Around here, though, at a lot of places, they won't "touch" your cup. When my daughter and son were small, I would want their drink order put straight into their sippy cup. Nope. I had to get the (usually) styrofoam cup, pour it myself and throw the cup away. This wasn't in restaurants, and stuff, but little stands like in malls and stuff. |

Sure, they're allowed. It's not like they're giving your cup to someone else. I usually find that they don't charge less per se, but they charge for the size one smaller than what my cup holds (it's a biggy).
eta; Wow, Karma, I've never had that happen. Seems strange... :)

Yea what karmat said is what I was thinking of... although I can't think of the specific instance that made me think it wouldn't be allowed, I'm sure I've encountered something. I feel like at the coffee stand I worked at we weren't allowed to filly other people's cups for health reasons... maybe it was BS from the bosses? I dunno.
ETA: Ohhh I remember now!! No heating up their drinks, because if they had sipped from it we weren't allowed to use the steamer on it because of germs. (which still doesn't make sense cus I doubt they'd survive the heat anyhow!)

They told me it was health regulations. The same "reason" that if you go get a refill, they will hold your cup back to you to get the lid and straw (which actually does make a bit of sense)., |

The supermarket that I shop at has trolleys that have a frame for up to 4 large plastic crates - you make a one off purchase of the crates, and use them as a trolley as you go around the shop, and then to pack your food and stuff in to once you have bought it. Works really well. |

And we've all seen what happens when Slippy gets pissed off. It's not pretty! ;-) |

oh my gosh!! That is so awesome! I've been fretting over how to make floor pillows thicker without buying gobs of expensive stuffing! I was gunna do newspaper with the stuffing around it but using plastic bags sounds softer...
Thanks so much!
ETA: 2,000 plastic bags? Holy cow. I hope no one is silly enough to buy one of those cases and then go around getting plastic bags to fill it!

Whenever I am commenting anonymously on challenge photos, I always opt for a paper bag. The plastic ones will kill ya! Seriously. |

There are a couple of places here that encourage you to bring your own cup. It costs $0.49 no matter how big your cup is, but if you don't bring your own it's $1.19 for 20 oz. I just got back from the grocery store and that particular store is giving out discounts if you bring your own bags! I think this will catch on soon! :) |

yea I hope so! Trader Joe's does a raffle but they forget to give us tickets all the time. lol. not that it matters too much, I've never one a raffle in my life! The Ralph's stores in LA would give you a discount but it was only 5 cents per bag. Seems hardly worth the time to even ring it up... besides its kind of a rip. 1 tote bags doesn't equal 1 plastic bags (I'd say at least 3 or 4 without double bagging). You are saving them way more! Oh well. :) Not why I do it anyhow but I do think they should make it more appealing to use reusable bags. |

Hmmm... I seem to recall a certain photo...
Sorry Monica, I had to do it. ;-) Great thread btw. One of my first jobs many years ago was a bagger at Ralphs, and would always get irritated at the people who wanted paper in plastic.

my first wife had a canvas bag she would take to the grocery store and one time she emptied it and handed it to the young bagger, he looked at her and said "ma'am are you sure all your stuff is going to fit in this one bag"? lol Before my wife could answer the cashier chimmed in and said "well she just took it all out of it didn't she"? lol
I do try and make sure I don't get a bag especially if I have one or two items and there are a lot of times I get the deer in the headlight look but I just grab my stuff out of the bag and leave. |

So I was talking about this with a friend and they suggested this site. The bags obviously are pricier than if you buy them in the grocery store but they look kinda cool and she told me they hold a lot of stuff! I linked directly to the photos of them in use so you can see, then you can go shopping and see the prices.
