Okay, this is totally geeky of me... but I gotta tell you about a new device called a RadioPopper. If you're a wedding photographer shooting off-camera flash with either the Canon or Nikon flash systems, you're gonna WANT one of these!!!

Do you use an on-camera master to drive your off-camera slave for those perfect eTTL exposures ... that sometimes miss due to line-of-sight problems?!? And yet, you're reluctant to use PocketWizard radio transmitters because, while nearly 100% reliable, you completely lose the magic eTTL exposures, forcing you to have to calculate what the exposure would be and then run back to the flash and dial in the appropriate settings.

So what's the solution? You want the magic of eTTL and the reliability of Radio. Well... here it is!

Check out the RadioPopper information here. And see what they look like here.

I love the idea. I can't wait to get my hands on a set.

Now that product makes a ton of sense. Methinks it's going to be a raging success.

I was wondering how in the world it could work, and they gives the details. It sees the IR signal from the flash then relays that to the slave unit which shoots the IR into the receiving flash. Cool.

I was lucky enough to try a beta version of one of these from one of my friends....I didn't want to give it back.

Before this I used those cheapo versions from Hong Kong. The ones from HK were $32 for transmitter and receiver and the effective range was only 10 feet. So I could fire one flash and had to use slaves for the others.

The radiopopper has a range of over 1,000 feet, shoots reliably every time, and can recognize TTL.

And for the cheapos out there like me, they are going to sell a Radiopopper Jr. for $25 that has the same range but no TTL.

So if you can wait a few months, they will be available...I think they will sell out fast and be sold at higher than list price on Ebay.

I can see the point of the popper.... particularly for wedding types but they are expensive especially if you need the ones with multiple "channels" (like most I think they are false channels).

Personally, I am waiting for the popper junior from the same crowd or better still the open source trigger project that is due out in the summer - these have a huge potential for those of us that can use a soldering iron & have done some hardware coding (there will be a number of these to select from as people code them). This time, I am waiting for some reviews... cause I hate the flee-bay ones.... almost went for the skyports but deceided to wait for the new devl. Also Paul Buff has released a new version mostly for AB's that look interesting BUT the receivers appear to be power not battery....
