I can't believe that I have 74 votes and absolutely zero comments. Where are all of the people who want to tell me how much my photo sucks!! at least then I'd be getting some feedback. 5.39 tells me that slightly more people think it is slightly above sucking. comments people. I need comments.

Just my opinion, of course. But, I think the challenges would be more fair, with more integrity, if voters were not allowed to skip voting on some images. The cherry picking voting is not a good thing. |

What makes you think "cherry picking" is going on? |
Oh, I don't know. Maybe the differential in votes cast between votes on my image and votes on the other person's image. I could understand a statistical difference of say, 10%. But, a 51% variance in votes cast suggests "cherry picking". Or, it could be friend/foe voting. I do know this website employs collusion detection algorithms. So, I wonder whether the SC is alert to the statistical discrepancies? I'm sure they are!!!! They are diligent and fair-minded people. |

I have heard that if your score is average you will get less comments - it is only the high scoring and low scoring shots which get more comments basically because it is easier to comment on them to say why they are good or bad... try picking something to comment on in an image you think is average and you will see what i mean...
Still not going to say my score... i have a feeling about this one, and it tastes of beer... |

The spread between views and votes is fairly similar to others'...perhaps you have an interesting thumbnail and people want to look at it? Also, it's a member challenge, so registered users can look, but not vote.

There are times when I've noticed the same thing....loads of "views" but, about half the votes! Not sure why that is, but most people's "stats" seem to be like that. I think what happens is that a lot of voters look over the images first, then go back and cast votes and perhaps, later, comments. That means twice as many hits or more than votes. Since this is a member only challenge, that means that there are also non-members that can look at the photos and comment if they want to, but not enter a "vote" (score). That means that there are also hits there that don't count as "votes".
As to the ability NOT to vote on a shot.....well, that's a tricky one because there are times when I recognize whose shot it is because of models, similar styles, or rarely, I have been either talked to about a photo for opinion prior to voting or been shown the entry and therefore, will NOT vote on their entry. That is where the ability to bypass that particular shot comes in handy. Then, there are certain photos for which I will not have decided what to do either vote or comment wise and want to leave it aside for the moment to think about and come back to later to vote on or comment on. Being able to bypass those ones for the time being, makes it less stressful rather than adding a hasty vote.
There's a lot that can be improved upon but, that happens everywhere. Nothing is perfect, is it? I have gripes or concerns in here too sometimes, so you're not alone by any means on that point. :) |
