I'm in as the Pin Holes (for now). Shouldn't we have 3 outfielders instead of just 2? I know there's an extra DH, but 2 OF is kind of weird.
Not sure I can make the live draft - I might still be doing my main auction league draft at that time. And since there's real money on the line for that one....

Please do! I have no idea what I'm doing, but that hasn't stopped me in photography, so why start now? :)

Yeah, in Yahoo the default is 2 OF since there is that extra Utility spot in order to preserve a 9-man starting lineup. If I add an OF, we'd be starting 10.

If you aren't online, the computer will draft for you.

I'm probably better off that way, anyway. :)

Hey..... :)

but also online, you can prerank your players, so if you like someone better than others you can put them in the spots you would want to draft them in order, and if they are there when its your time to draft, it will auto pick that player for you....

just an FYI for anyone that hasn't played before or hasn't read the rules yet.

To draft a player, select a name from the list on the left-hand side of the screen. The chosen name will appear in the draft box and the player will join your team when you click on the Draft button. You have 90 seconds to select a player. If you do not draft within the allotted time, the computer will automatically give you a player based on your queued list, your pre-rankings, or our default ratings if you have not queued players or submitted your own rankings list. See the Autopick Draft Details section for more information. Once you click the Draft button, you cannot "undraft" a player, even if there is time left in your allotted 90 second selection period.

Ok...so our draft is tomorrow night and I have a couple of questions.

How does the DL work in the draft? If we draft someone on the DL and then they come off of the DL, do we have to take someone else off of the active roster? You can tell I'm new to this! So we are drafting 21 active roster players and we can put another one on the DL to secure a place on the team for that player? If we have to remove a player from the active roster, can other teams pick him up and how does that work? Does the player have to be on the DL for real? If we have a player on the DL, then they come off and go onto the active roster - then we later have someone else placed on the DL, how do we replace that player on the active roster?

Next subject: Minor league call ups. Can we draft minor leaguers and how do we aquire a minor league player if they are called up during the season?

And finally...how long do you anticipate the draft taking?

I think those are my only questions for now. I'd appreciate some help! Thanks.

Thought of another question: Do all stat categories carry the same weight in aquiring team points?

Only players on the real DL can be placed on your DL. When you place a player on the DL, it opens up a roster spot on your team. You can pick up any player from the free agent pool to do that. When the player on your DL comes off the real DL, you will have to drop someone from your roster to activate the now-healthy player; or you can drop him. I don't think anybody is currently on the DL since the season hasn't started yet - at least, not on the DL for Yahoo's purposes.

When a player is dropped from a team, he first goes to "waivers," sort of a holding area. Any team (even the team that dropped him) can put in a claim for him, but no one will be able to pick him up until he comes off waivers two days after he's dropped. The claiming team with the lowest waiver order number will get him. If a player passes through waivers without anyone claiming him, he goes into the free agent pool. Any team can pick up any player from the FA pool at any time; the roster move is immediate (though if it's late in the day, you may not be able to start him until tomorrow). To pick up a player, you must drop a player or put a player on the real DL onto your DL to make space. Just remember that there are some players you can't cut.

As far as minor leaguers, if Yahoo has them available, you can roster them, even if they're still in the minors. Just remember you only have five bench slots. Once they're promoted to the majors, you can pick them up just like any other free agent. Odds are, though, if he's a hot prospect, Yahoo already has him available even as a minor leaguer. Take a look at Jarrod Saltalamacchia of TEX - you'll see the red "NA" next to his name, which means he's not on an active major league roster right now, but you can still draft him or add him.

Drafts usually take a couple of hours or so, depending on how many people show up.

All stats count the same. This is a head-to-head league, so if you win the HR category and your opponent wins the ERA category, you each get one point. Actually, it's the same for rotisserie style leagues, too -- the team with the most SB at the end of the season gets as many points as the team with the most W.

Hope this helps!

First about the DL.

You draft 21 active players at the Live Draft. If you happen to draft a player who is on the DL, after you have drafted you then select their position as DL. You can only designate one player at a time as being on the DL even if more than one is on the DL. The players that can be put on the DL will have a little red "DL" next to their name in your roster. When you place a player on the DL, they are then not considered part of your active roster and you may add another player to fill up the empty spot. They do, however, remain on your team and cannot be taken by another team in the league. When you are ready to put that player back on the active roster, you change his designation from DL and must subsequently drop a player on your roster since you can only hold 21 active players at a time.

Hope that answers that, let me know if it doesn't.

As far as stats...

This type of league is a head-to-head matchup. Each week, you are matched up with one other team in the league. You compete separately for each stat category. For example, the person whose team hits the most home-runs in one week wins that category for the week and gets +1 added to their total tally for the week. The team which has the most points, the most single categories won in a week, wins their matchup and gets a win for that week. The leaderboard is determined by your Win-Loss standings for the entire week.

Hope this clarifies.. feel free to ask more.

So once the draft is over and the season begins - in order to pick up any player, whether dropped from another team , brought up from the minors, or simply available - I would have to be "first in line" with a claim? Is that what you mean by "Lowest waiver order number?" or is that based on team standings of some sort? I assume that I wouldn't have to determine who to drop from the roster until I have approval to aquire the new player? I understand that players can also be changed up during the season with trade. Sorry for so many questions!

Thanks!
