My wife and I went on a one week safari and beach stay back in 84. We loved it so much we went again the next year for two weeks. Those were the greatest vacations of our lives. We were living in Germany at the time and the Mark/Dollar exchange rate was great. I would love to go again and take our daughters, but we can't afford it any more.
The opportunities for pictures are fantastic. One time, we got within 20 feet of a pride of lions resting in the shade. And this was in an open top van. At one stop, a male baboon actually came inside the van and had to be chased off by the driver. (those teeth are scary)
You will love it. If you go through Nairobi, try to stop at "The Carnivore". It is a restaurant that serves whatever exotic meat is available that day. The zebra was not very good, but the Hartebeest was outstanding (if you are a vegetarian, I apologize for this suggestion).
Once I get moved into our new house, I will work on scanning in some of our photos (pre-digital) and post them.
Enjoy the trip.
