My family is spending this week at my brother's country farmhouse, and I've been enjoying helping him do some catch & release, hopefully on some squirrels living in his walls. So far I've taken part in three. :-)

Here's a the link to a montage of stills and video I made on YouTube. That's my brother, Mike, in the video clips and a couple stills. Enjoy!

Hmmmm... That was quiet an interesting travel documentary. Wha? It wasn't a travel documentary? It was about what? SQUIRRELS? Um, ok.

Good show Slippy! I thought you were going to send him off the bridge and see if it was a flying squirrel. He was ready to get out of the trap and get to the woods. Good jams too, Joe is one of my favs.

I realize its all in good humor and all but that IMO is just not right, the first thing through my mind was to build a bigger version and put the idiot in the video in it. Sorry but launching the squirrel in to the trees like that can do some serious damage to the squirrel causing unnecessary injuries and pain...

Most of the footage was of squirrels. Your disappointment in gratuitous squirrel footage seems quite over the top to me. I think you need to find a squirrel afficionado group specific to your fetish. Please, don't get your squirrel--fur-lined panties in a bunch over my video.

LOL! We did have the flying squirrel conversation. He releases them in a park on the other side of a deep chasm from his house, so hopefully they'll prefer the tourists snacks to his. :-)

I thought you were going to toss 'em off that bridge.
Glad that was just a scenic look and not the final destination. :)

So you captured them from an area where they had food stored and warm living conditions, took them out into the wild where they had no food stored, no warm nest and very little hope of surviving the rest of winter. And you documented this to prove how humane you are?

Sorry, but as much of a bother squirrels can be, it would have been kinder to kill them humanely rather than send them out to starve or freeze. If they are lucky, it will end quickly when they get picked up by a hawk, fox or run over while crossing the road. You could have at least waited till spring. I wonder if any of those were nursing mothers?

I'd reply to your post, but it would be against the terms of service of this website. :-P

I tried, but then some tree-hugger got all up in my face because it's food bowl was made of metal, and was harmful to the environment. :-D

Yeah, you and the wife could have kept them warm in your cozy bed.

I think that sounds like a humane plan, and a lot of fun too. The more the merrier!

I have an SOS policy when it comes to squirrels.

An air rifle or a .22 with subsonic loads is quick, quiet and efficient.

Does this apply to cartoon squirrels? What about chipmunks? ;)
