Last month I had amini vacation near Mystic, Conn. Before heading off, I asked for some advice on aqaurium fotog. As usual I got fast & great advice on settings. Here are some shots I took.

Mucho thanks for all those who dropped advice!

Hey, nice job Rooster! Aquarium photography is a real challenge, you carried it off well. It's addicting, isn't it?

Thanks guys! I just posted more of 'em in my pbase account. Find it in my signature under The Rooster Chronicles.
The shark shot was the one I really wanted to get right. I was blown away when I finally got it right!

Maybe I shouldn't say anything, since I've never shot anything like that, and don't know the difficulty, but they all seem really grainy, and the colors seem too flat, in my opinion.

Nice shots - try reducing the chromiance noise and then adjust the brightness and contrast to a level where the effect of glass is diminished...

Hey Movieman,

I totally agree with you. Most of the. do seem grainy. Unfortunately, there were a lot of stuff floating around plus the scratches & such on the glass made it really hard to get a clear shot. Still, I think the bigger challenge was trying to set non blurry shots what with the low light & all.
All things considered, I think the shots came out pretty good. Aquarium shots are really addictive, especially when trying to get hem to be just right.
Other than that, I had a a really fantastic time on my vacation not ony because we were just 20 minutes from Mystic but bc we stayed at such a great place & had a nice relaxing time!

Thanks! I highly recommend aquarium shots to get some fun practice with settings & poor lighting!

Excellent aquarium shots.

I especially like:
Prowling-Predator is very good with the spotlight under the water and the nice shadow.
If you select any for prints Bathing-Baby-Crock and Turtle should definitely be the first ones. Excellent colors and composition.

Great shots, I especially like Underwater Wonderland. That Starfish sure looks like it is resting after a hard days work.
