would there be a significant difference between these two lenses? I have found that the tamron 90mm is supposed to have a slight edge in macro work, and I think that the 90mm would allow me to be a bit closer to the subjects. I have been unable to find discussion about the tamron for portrait work though.
Any opinions?
(I'm thinking that the 50mm 1.8, 90mm tamron, and a ~20 something prime would make for a decent wedding set up.) |

The Tamron is very sharp wide open, and it's only slightly longer than the 85mm f/1.8 which is a popular portrait lens. These two traits combined should make it a fairly good portrait lens. Some people have also used the Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro for portraiture work as well, and with success.
I can't comment on the Sigma though....

| Bump. I was wondering if anyone knows of tamron works well with canon. Ive heard great reviews about the sigma but havnt heard about the tamron. |
