I only received one comment on my free study shot. I've been consistantly mediocre in scoring this year :(

Anyway, I think what I really like about this shot is maybe what others don't like? I LIKE the contrast and the short DOF, and of course the color. It borders on an abstract for me, while still being identifiable.

I'd appreciate some honest critique of this shot. Like it or not and why / why not? I won't say "how could it be better", because that's really subjective, but I will ask what you might do differently. Feel free to post any other versions or whatever.

Great potential in this photo. But the first two things I notice is that shallow DOF works against it because there is no real clear focus of attention where the sharp focus would normally be. The three flowers in th background are very good and somewhat abstract. But in order to pull that off I think you might need to get that foreground flower out of the shadows and into sharper focus. If you selected out that front flow and used levels, maybe curves, sharpening and color brightening, I think this photo would have scored better.

There is no real main focus and to the degree to which the front flower is the focus that flower really needs to highlighted.

Very creative.

Thank you all very much for the extra comments. It does help me see the photo as others see it, which is different than what I saw / see :)

I appreciate you taking the time to leave some thoughtful comments after the challenge.
