Flagging!
I am sure many are familiar with it, but for those who are not: //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_%28lighting%29
I purchased a cheap large piece of black foam core (one side is white)...
I knew I needed to start learning the other tools to help shape my lighting, so here is my first attempt.
Lighting consists of 1 large softbox on an AB800 camera left. To darken the shadows on my left side I held a scrap piece of the black foam core at an angle close to my face.
I know it will not be everyone's cup of tea, BUT what do you think?
edit to add link!

Now that you know how to use the white side of your foam core for a bounce from your light, or how to flag the light to shape it, with another light source like a back light, or a fill light, see what you can do using the black side of the foam core creating negative fill.
A technique not talked about around these parts.
