I have owned both the Sigma and Tamron 70-300 zooms. Both lenses are good at certain things, but the Sigma just pipped it for me. I used the Tamron and it produced sharp shots at both ends of the range and the Macro is pretty good as well. Check out the lens list in Equipment, look under the Pentax Tamron 70-300, most are mine and really sharp, although I did notice a fair bit of purple fringing when shooting into a light(sky) background.

I used the Sigma on my 300D and got equally good results, and have one with the 30D now. Value for money? Well, if they are in your budget and you need that extra reach, then either lens will produce good results in good light.

I have a Kodak Easyshare Z710 which totally stinks at taking long distance shots
even tho it has more megapixels than my old cameras.
Two questions:

Can I attach another lens & if so; will that help with the resolution at a distance?
OR
Should I try and get a better camera- even though this one is practically brand new?
(btw: I'm POOR)

HELP!

I'm a point & shooter who knows nothing about these things- even tho I have over 8,000
photographs on my computer from the last 2 years, the fantastic ones mostly being outdoor
pictures- up close of my daughter & my (ex) horses.

Any info would be great!
