Thanx Steven. I had a feeling it was the fact that the lens itself was already 'where it should be' for macro. Oh well, time to see about trading this ring for a coupling ring. |

Raises hand, I have a question.
Should we name our macros in a descriptive way or should we hide the true identity of the subject and let viewers guess?
I have always loved the fact I can make people ask what the item is because they have never seen it in that particular light or angle. Always gives me a smile.
Thoughts? |

This isn't much of a macro, but the nearest thing that I shot to macro today.

This is more of the scene. It's tomatoes in the wash/surge tank, waiting to go up into a grading and packing machine that I have been building from scraps and junk in my spare time for over a year. We started it all up for the first time today, and it worked without a hitch all day. As you can imagine, there was a lot for me to check out on the machine, and I did not have time to carefully shoot a macro for the day. The whole machine is about 150 ft long, and has 17 electric motors in it, plus hydraulic components, and lighting. It takes about 25 people to tend it when it is running.
I was called back to work tonight because a fork lift had knocked part of a cooling unit down inside a cooler.
I love my job. I never know what I will be doing next.

Question: I noticed many entries are following a theme. Are all my images supposed to go together in some way? |

no there is no rule about having to follow a theme
some of us have just chosen to do this as long as you have a macro, have fun and get practice that's all that matters :) |
