Bottom line: how much are you safisfied / pleased with it?
Image qualaty for the bucks spend?
Relationship image quality/cost?
Subjectivly speaking?
Just wonder how pleased are everyone. I've made my mind... I'm getting one and 2 new lenses... But I want to fill my ego with your comments meanwhile.

| I now a guy who purchased D300 and he swears by the great ISO at higher numbers. He showed me a sample, with ISO 3200 or whatever and it looks great. So, I don't know other people, but you have one positive comment on the machine :) He said it worth every penny (so far) |

I'm not a fan, but here's Ken Rockwell's high ISO comparison, including the D200 and D300. Based on this test and others, I turned off all the internal processing the D300 does to images at high ISO.
In addition to the improved sensor, I like my D300 for it's beautiful LCD screen; for instantaneous zoom on the LCD; LiveView + video out = easily composed SP; better weather sealing, including a fixed-to-the-body rubber gasket (instead of those stupid always-lost screw-on things on the D200); 6fps using the battery that comes with the camera (8fps using EN-EL4A and MB-D10); speaking of which, the sturdy MB-D10 grip, though it's pricier than then MB-D100; custom menus. |

Me too! You could not pry mine out of my cold dead fingers! Im a little pissy about the lack of availabilty of the bl-3 for my mbd10, but my husband rigged me one until mine comes in. ??Oh yeah, I like my D300 so much I have 2 of them. One primary, one back-up.

I love mine.
The color reproduction is great. I almost constantly shoot Vivid with +2 saturation. The Active D-Lighting is a very neat tool as well.
The one problem I'm having, that no one else seems to have: if I take a picture and immediately zoom in on it when it auto-displays, it will occasionally misalign all the colors. And recently, it's been showing horizontal bars across the image as well. If I zoom all the way out and then back in again, they're gone. The picture is fine, as well. It's very annoying but nondestructive. |
