OK, our first project is the Pulp Fiction poster/movie cover (link above). As far as PP rules, anything goes! There are no restrictions to the amount of work done in PP, the only rule is that you are taking the shots and doing the PP yourself, lol of course the honor system is officially in effect here! The deadline will be March 18th. DON'T 'REVEAL' YOUR POSTER UNTIL MARCH 18th!!!! Feel free to jump on in and participate even if you aren't on the list! Good Luck everyone!

I was thinking we could keep with the movie poster theme for a few weeks and do a couple more, what do you all think about these:
Blow
Big Daddy
Night of the Living Dead
Planet Terror
Gremlins
these might be fun (or way too hard/annoying, I can't get over wanting to do them though!) :
The Sandlot
Uncle Buck
Just throwing some ideas out there!! |

Alright, I'm in the process of getting all my items together for the pulp fictin shot, ie: wig, black pumps, old school lampshade etc. Is anyone having trouble finding any of these items?? I know they're not exactly rare but I am having a hard time finding this stuff at the local thrift stores. I'm using my bf's sister as my model and she is so much smaller than me that I can't use anything I already own!! Just curious if you guys are experiencing any hurdles as well....
edit: Well, I'm in the middle of a blizzard! we are expected to get up to 10"!!!! So, I am not able to go and get some of the items I need...I may be a little late getting my shot, I'm still shooting for the 18th though

I'm not going to be able get my shot done for a while....I have NO money to buy some of the items on the list..I DO want to do this though, so everyone else feel free to keep it going, but for now I am going to have to postpone doing it myself. Thanks to everyone who got on board! |

Hmmm, I wasn't really planning on doing an exact re do of it, I was going to do my version of it, so maybe I shouldn't show mine!? I'm really no good at editing photos so that's kind of my I wanted to do this, to get better at it. It's been a pain in my butt, but I'm figuring quite a few things out. I am having trouble with the orange and black line at the top. I'm working on it on my laptop which has PSP and I can't for the life of me figure out how to make a solid coloured line! If anyone has any advice I'd gladly take it!
I can't wait to see what everyone else did!!! :) |

Hey, I'm just watching this thread to see what comes out. You can't hold back now! Post it please, I wanna see! :p
I'm pretty comfortable with PSP, so I'll be happy to help if I can. What version are you using? I have PSPX2, but I've used v9 and v5 in the past. In V10+, you have to use vector graphics on a seperate layer to draw lines or filled areas. This is done via the "Pen tool" at the bottom of the toolbar on the left. It's not very intuitive to use, even when you know how, but I can normally get it to do what I need it to.

The laptop has version 10. I tried using the paint brush tool and using the square shape, but it's very hard to make a straight line. I even tried using my drawing pad thing with a ruler. If you have anymore advice I'd sure take it! Thanks for the previous help! |

OK, this is how you make a solid block of colour as a vector entity. It's confusing to understand at first, but follow these steps and you should get there...
Click on the pen tool (hover over each icon until the tooltip shows "Pen tool"). Then up the top, there will be the pen toolbar.
Double check that the "Mode:" on the toolbar is set to "Draw lines and polylines".
Make sure "Connect segments" is checked on.
Select your foreground colour for the outline colour, and the background colour for the fill colour. For a solid block of colour, you set the background colour for what you want, and the line width (on the toolbar) to zero, so the foreground colour line does not appear. Alternatively, you can set the foreground colour to transparent. If you want a line without any fill colour, you need to set the background colour to transparent. Transparent is the little circle with the slash through it under the foreground/background colour boxes.
Now you can click around the perimeter of where you want to draw the polygon. Polygons/polylines can go off the edges of the drawing.
When you are finished one polygon, click on the green tick "Apply" button on the pen toolbar. If you forget this, you can end up with a few polygons linked together, with the same colour attributes, and they can't be independently changed! :)
If you want to edit a shape after it has been created, you can change the Pen tool "Mode:" to Edit, and move shapes around (by grabbing the edge of a line), or move individual nodes around. With a shape selected in edit mode, you can change it's fg/bg colours, and many other operations.
One important thing to remember is that these 'vector' entities are not raster lines, so you can't flood fill them. You have to use the vector fill colour for each vector entity. Well, you can convert it to a raster layer, but there's often no need to do this. The editing functions are more powerful if the shapes are left as vector shapes. Circles, arcs, spline curves and text are all treated as vector entities.

OK, nobody laugh at mine! There's way more that could be done with this, but I suck at PSP. I did learn quite a bit though!! :) I was going to name it flop fiction! I had to use an air bed and basically run and jump on it to get the shot. Because of the air bed, I lost some of the props in the comforter. If I were to re-do this re-do I probably would have put something under the blanket to make the props taller. Oh well, if anything this was a good learning experience. If anyone has suggestions on how I can make it better, I might try this again!

LOL! Thanks for the comments! My lighting wasn't that sophisticated. I used a fluorescent spotlight and an incadensent. The fluorescent was on the window and shades. The curtains were blue and so were the pillows. That's the way I got that blue tint. I used the burn tool on the curtains and shades to make it look darker. If you're interested I can post the "before" pic. |

I love it! I'm going to try and get mine done this week, I was holding out for a wig, but I think I am going to go ahead with it without the wig. My model has black hair so it should work! Thanks for posting, just what I needed to light a fire under me! |

No! Originally I was waiting on payday so I could get a wig, but I decided to forget the wig (my model has dark har), now I'm waiting on a day when we are both available to get the shot. I promise I didn't forget/abandon it! |
