I suggest moving the Search edit box on the Forums page to the top of the page where it can be found a little easier.

I would second that suggestion. Even better might be to have it at the top of the header bar, on the right, above "Welcome back, username..." so you could search the forums from anywhere on the site

Putting at the top who make you not have to search for the Search forum. Less forums about the same thing. I like it.
