Review starts.

Its f***ing awesome!!

Review Ends.

I will try to bulk it out a bit more over the coming days.

Seriously though, I just found the custom function so I can shoot 7 bracketed exposures over a 7 stop range -3 thru +3, not bad eh? even better when you can do all 7 shots in under 1 second.. cant wait for daylight so I can play with this beauty a bit more.. HDR is gonna be fun again!!

Oh, and Liveview has impressed the hell out of me, I thought it was a gimmick but it is incredibly usable.

What truly knocks my socks off is the accuracy of it's metering system, and how well it handles noise. ISO1000 is nothing to the MKIII.

There's a 7.7573 on that page that is just begging to be toppled. Who's gonna' do it?

I spent the last two days shooting the San Diego Padres spring Training for the paper and it truly is an amazing piece of equipment. It's almost like shooting video.

WTG Mark Can't wait to some of the new pics. Oh and I'm sure you will stomp that 7.7 brad holds. Oh and because you won't be needing that 5D anymore I'll take that off your hands for you.

The D200 does 9 bracketed images up to a stop apart. I've only done 1 HDR with it, was really easy - turn bracketing on, lock the cable release and wait for the noise to stop. Gives really sharp HDR images, with the Sony the frames were always a bit out of alignment due to having to adjust the exposure after each shot.

Mark, was this with your insurance money? That's an awesome purchase though mate. I hope you have a lot of hard drive space for it though, especially at 10 fps at 21 mpx.

Crazy crazy times.

What you doing with the 5d? keeping it as a backup?

21mpx? 10mpx I thought

The 1d mk3 is 10mp., the 1Ds mk3 is the 21mp beastie.. and no, insurance money will take a long time to come in, this is from a remortgage we recently took out so we could get a new kitchen etc, we have shedloads of equity in our property (we payed 50k, now worth about 190k) so we decided to unlock a bit of it.

Also got a 580ex II, 2x TC, 24-70 f2.8L and a 1610 Pelicase.. Should keep me going for a while, I have all this time at home at the moment so need something to play with ;) (no comments Saberi)

Why did you buy one of those, Mark? Don't you know they don't work properly?

My Tamron took a knock mate and at f2.8 - f4 it seems a bit soft these days, can probably get it serviced, but its nice to have all Canon kit.

Only if I am shooting people running directly towards me in bright sunlight at temps above 19 degrees C. as all the tests/complaints seem to be about.

I can live with that.

i don't think 19c+ is going to happen in this country anyways.

Nice purchase man. And that lens is next on my shopping list, well that or the 28-70. It's allegedly sharper and I have the 17-40 for really wide stuff.

Can't wait to see the pics. Have you noticed any drop in quality or anytning though due to the resolution decrease? Albeit a slight one.

I read many reviews and checked many sample shots before buying it, but other than a drop (albeit slight) in total resolution the QUALITY looks as good.. not sure if the 14bit is a huge leap forwards over 12bit, time will tell I guess.

yeah i've heard conflicting reviews over the 14 bit advancement and if it's really a worthwhile advancement at all. Time will tell though right?

Does look like a beasty camera though man :) I'm sure you'll plenty of fun together. Does it sleep at the end of your bed btw?

OK, just a quick sample. the IQ isn't much different from the 5D really.

Yeah, I suppose so. Especially considering that most people are running away from you anyway.
