After chatting with a few people about the MS walk I'm doing, a crazy idea occurred to me: a DPC team doing the MS walk on the morning of April 5, followed by a photo shooting GTG the rest of the day and on April 6.
Would anyone like to do that? The MS walk I do is 6-7 miles long. The route goes from Georgetown (very close to where I took this shot):
out the Potomac River to a park called Glen Echo. It's a beautiful route - you walk along a canal towpath between the Potomac River and the C&O Canal.
Here's a map.
It usually takes me 2-3 hours to walk the route. There are also a couple of other routes.
If you do the MS Walk, you're asked to raise at least $125, which gets you a t-shirt and lunch.
You can learn more, including fundraising tips, at the MS Walk Web site.
I'd be happy to organize a DC photography outing for the rest of that day and the next day.
And top of all of that, I turn 41 the following week. Last year's walk was actually on my 40th birthday, and I think it's a wonderful way to celebrate being alive.
So - who's in? :)

Wish I could come down from NYC that weekend, but I've got a previous commitment. Best wishes on your fund raising, and I think the GTG is a good idea. |

You're full of good ideas. I won't be able to join you, but I wish I could, because I know the photo shoots will be fabulous. You have taken so many great shots of D.C. from so many interesting vantage points. I hope you get a good team going, and have a great success with the MS Walk. |

Jeffrey, my husband Kevin and I are going to try and make it if at all possible with work schedules. We'll let you know as soon as we can. |

Excellent!
I should say to all of you who have already donated to my walk: don't let that stop you. I'll just donate the same amount back to your walk. :)

Could you tell me which airport to go into (if I can) and some reasonably priced hotels near where ever it is I would go? Oh and if there is a bus route from and to the hotel from the airport? |

Nonstop would almost certainly be into Dulles (IAD), but if you stop over you could go into that or National Airport (DCA). DC is a big city, so there are plenty of hotels. Do you want to stay close to the walk route? Close to the monuments?
Buses are an iffy proposition because their timing is essentially random (despite having schedules), but the train (called Metro) is wonderful. You can get around quite well on it.

haha ... omg ... this is the story of my life with DPC get-togethers: I'm going to be out of town that weekend. So normally my next move would be to look for a GTG where I'm going to be (in Cleveland this time) but when/if there is one, it will be the week before or after my visit there. :-} |
