I just listened to this week's Science Times podcast and heard a scientist from Wood's Hole in Massachusetts talk about his research into the cuttlefish, a species of octopus. The podcast directed me to this Youtube video which he shot himself. He plays if forward so you can see how he spooked the cuttlefish, which was pretending to be part of a coral rock. He then plays it backward in slow mo so you can see how effectively this creature is adapted to become invisible. Truly amazing stuff!

Many people thought this was a video editing fake, but as you'll see from some of the other featured clips, it's been studied frame by frame. Find the interview with Dr. Hanlon at iTunes under Science Times Podcast or read about it in the NYTimes here (login may be required).
