I came across this tutorial and had to ask:

//www.jnack.com/adobe/photoshop/fountain/

It's also a great easy way to get a nice Landscape out of a busy area, so even if not legal, enjoy!

I was impressed when I saw this on Russell Brown's podcast last year. I doubt it's legal--even in advanced--but it's worth submitting to the SC to find out for sure.

Very nice!

I'm about 95% certain this would not be legal in the new Advanced rules, however. "You may not create new features during post-processing or obscure significant parts of your original capture(s)."

I agree with your conclusion, but not your reasoning via the portion of the ruleset you quoted.

No new features are created (since everything in the final image existed in at least one of the individual captures), and nothing is obscured (things are only removed, not added, and therefore nothing can be obscured). But that's simply one person's interpretation.

The part of the rules that seemed to me to disqualify this technique was, "You may not ... move or change a feature between frames, or combine different captures to create a new scene."

ETA: But of course, I'm splitting hairs at this point.
