Yes, it certainly is. I really hesitate to post anything but I'd like to make it clear that I also vote ONE (1) in the poll.
I think that one of the strong features of this site is that we do post critical comments on each other's photos. I've been concerned for some time that we may be losing some of this; people seem to be less willing to be critical than they used to be. We have been urged to leave comments any time we rate a photo 3 or less. I used to do that but I stopped because I got tired of being challenged by people who didn't like it when I didn't like their work. I don't think I'm alone in this--others have stopped giving critical comments and/or stopped rating images less than 4. If photographers can delete what I say, this adds one more reason not to make comments.
I also do not think that it is possible to separate comments about the model from comments about the photo. I once got a comment (on another site) saying that my model was not fat enough. The image was of a young woman eating a piece of chocolate. The person making the comment thought that my theme of temptation would have been clearer if the model had been heavier. Although on the surface level, the comment was about the weight of my model, I took it as a suggestion about how I could make my image more effective.
I probably won't respond to replies to this message because I don't want to contribute to the "going in circles."

I vote ONE (1). |
did you really just liken killing someone to deleting a comment? |
I believe he did. ...and frankly that's the only reasonable implementation of the comment removal feature. Click, BANG!
LOL - I'm kidding of course. I mean obviously a gun wouldn't work. We need some sort of lethal electro shock delivery system. I'll get my engineering guys on it.
edit to add: Wow - this was my 12,000th forum post. A milestone that will send me right back into self-imposed exile. If I had a dollar for every post, I'd have... well, I'm not sure exactly but it would probly be like a zillion bucks.

I haven't read the entire jibber-jabber dialogue in this thread, but I've read several related. I choose #1 Keep the system as is.
Hey this is the internet, the information highway, the public.
Yes, anyone can join paying or not.
In this country the freedom of speech and opinion is treasured.
The same rules apply as if any Politician, Celebrity, or Individual
is scrutinized in the Public, or on a street corner.
The truth always eventually prevails.
The more knowledgeable or mature-minded will see what's real.
A heckler is not worth even addressing, or just addressing once. |
