I'd like to set up some video security around our house outside. I'd like some video to show the parents of the teens if & when they decide to have some fun vandalising stuff, and so I can sleep more easily at night as the break-in on my car while it was in our driveway while ago still bothers my sleep a lot.
I may be able to set up a couple of cameras inside windows, looking out, so weather-proofing isn't a must. But there are a couple of spots I'd like to have cameras up under the overhang (soffets) of the roof outside, which may want a bit of weather resistance.
Here's my wishlist:
1. Easy to install.
2. Wireless.
3. Motion-activated.
4. Records to some sort of DVR, I'd prefer not to set up a PC, but could could put it on the playroom PC.
5. Ability to export clips off of DVR to my laptop or a CD/DVD for neighbor's or police viewing.
6. Easy to review the clips/plugs into TV.
7. Option to schedule to record only at night.
8. Decent ability to record dimly-lit scene.
Stuff I do not need:
1. Real-time viewing.
2. Viewing over the Internet.
3. Tilting or panning.
There's a Tiger Direct in town, so I'm expecially interested in things I can get there. Here's a link to their Sucurity & Surveillance section.
Any experience or advice would be appreciated. I'd be happy to spend up to about $1,500 to be able to sleep well again, it's been a long time.

Hard to tell what the prices are really, but there are some decent options out there that are probably worth exploring. Just a thought, schools have been installing systems like this over the last five or so years. Contact your local school district's security office and ask what they use?
Here are a few links I found, you probably did too:
