I was considering purchasing a new monitor to replace my current one (HP vs17). I have a 17" monitor with a VGA port and wanted a 24" monitor with digital support. Now I think I've narrowed it down to two and want to make sure I buy the better one (as both in the $300 range is relatively expensive for this college student).

1) Sceptre x24wg-Naga 24" Widescreen
2ms response time
4000:1 contrast ratio
1920x1200
DVI & VGA
16.7 million colors
300 cd/m^2 Brightness
160º viewing area both ways
VESA 100mm compliant
Flicker/Static Free
Vista Certified

2) BenQ G2400W 24" Widescreen
5ms response time
1000:1 contrast ratio
1920x1200
HDMI, DVI, D-Sub
16.7 million colors
250 cd/m^2 Brightness
160º viewing area both ways
VESA 100mm compliant

Now my main argument for the first choice is the Higher Contrast Ratio, lower response time and increased brightness. My main argument for the second choice is the HDMI port. While I will be using the DVI with my computer, I like the option of having it.

So is it worth the extra $50 for the BenQ or should I get the Sceptre and a $5 HDMI-to-DVI converter if I need it?
