When I take a picture and the image pops up on the display, it looks normal. When I start to zoom in, it's like the camera doesn't place the colors. Parts of the image show up as black and white, and there'll be a line or a block or a blob of some color somewhere in my screen. Sometimes it IS the color for the image, just not in the right place (I noticed it playing with a lens at a camera store, and the red blob was the right shape of the Canon tag, but in the wrong spot. The Canon tag itself appeared black and white). Other times it just seems like random color. This happens until I zoom all the way back out, and then zoom back in again. It seems to stop then. Anybody else had this issue? It's becoming annoying...

I can't remember if it's only happening with the used 50mm f/1.8 I just bought, or if it's even doing that with my brand new Tokina 12-24 f/4.

Did you try different memory card?

I haven't. I only have 1, though I could borrow one from my teacher.

I don't think it's a problem with the picture being recorded, because on the computer and zoomed out the image is fine. Besides, my card hasn't left my camera since I got it.

I don't zoom in much, so I don't have any experience with this at all.

However, I would start with the easy stuff. Shoot a different card (in or out of the camera, it can still be bad), and check to see if there are firmware updates that address this issue.

These new cameras will have issues like this that are ironed out with frequent firmware updates, so I try to stay on top of that as much as I can.

If not those, at least it's under warranty. :-]

I'm charging the battery, and then I'll do the firmware update. I'll post the results.

It hasn't done it since the update. So far so good. We'll see if it stays that way. Thanks for letting me know about that.
