I was reading this thread and went to the link it contained, but couldn't find any of the movies to watch. Other flash-based sites seemed to stop working too. Recently, Flash Player updated itself to version 9 on my Vista/IE7-based computer.

This is a common issue when Flash upgrades. If this happens to you, visit the Adobe site here to download the Flash uninstaller. Read the instructions carefully to uninstall Flash. Then, go to this page at Adobe to download the latest player.

Your Flash-based sites will work again.

how I wish that was true . .

I have had the same thing happen on my Vista laptop.

I have uninstalled (fromthe standalone uninstaller) re-installed and gone around in circles.

Currently it works if I run in admin - but not if I try to run it normally. It's driving me nuts.

Hm. I assume you're running Flash 9,0,28,0 or higher.

I read the title and was ready to tell you to put in fresh batteries. I guess that won't help in this case.

I was gonna say "Throw It!" but obviously that is impossible.

There's something wrong obviously, since you should be able to run it as a regular user. I suspect your laptop's configuration of Vista, but what do I know. If you are interested and don't mind a little pain, you might want to try to find the source of the problem using LUA Buglight. This is a program designed to help users (usually developers) discover why an application can only run with elevated priveleges. It can help you find configuration options causing the restriction, so you can change them.

It's not for everyone, so proceed with caution. It might shed some light though.
