Hey guys! I'm trying to improve my portrait technique (there really is nowhere to go but up), so I talked my girlfriend and her sister into being subjects. The shots were taken in the grass between two houses (sounds like a strange place, but it seems like at dusk the sun hits the sides of the houses just right and creates a huge softbox type effect). No special equipment was used besides the on-camera flash.

Let me know how I did!

Next time I want to find a more difficult location. Something that will provide the opportunity for some involvement with a prop or piece of the environment. Any suggestions? I live on the coast, so the beach is an obvious choice, but thats about all I can think of.

Posted a comment on the first one. But they are all fine - the dark/in shadow skin tones look a bit red in some of them. But nice use of natural light :)

Forest/woods? Check this out for something special for on-site shoots:

inshaala, thank you for the comments. Now that you mention it, they do look a bit red in the shadows. It's always hard for me to tell, it seems like looking at different monitors (even looking from different angles at the same monitor) makes the colors appear different. I think my next purchase is going to be some type of monitor calibration, and hopefully that will even things out.
