Hey guys. I'm hoping to break into the lucrative senior picture market this year. I found a local senior that I thought would make a great spokesperson for me and offered her a free session. The idea is to compile several of her (439) images ona postcard-size card that she can give to other seniors and juniors. The students who schedule a session and bring the card with them will get a 10% discount. I have 2 others to shoot, another girl and a boy. Unfortunately, all 3 are from the same school. I need to go steal kids from other schools too!!!! :D So what'cha think, sound like a fair marketing plan??

Here are a few favs from Kara's session:

Edit to mention these are 100% unretouched - only RAW conversion done to them so far.

Well, first off, great choice for the senior you chose. She is BEAUTIFUL, and I'm sure she will play a great role in getting more work for you. I love that you have some of the more "typical" senior poses, combined with some that are definitely "not-so-typical". One thing I would definitely recommend would be to NOT include the shot of her holding a Martini glass in your marketing. That has wrong message written all over it. Having said that, it's still a great shot. Just not right for high school marketing, though.
My favorites from the ones posted are:

Her eyes are amazing

Some may not like the hairs blowing across her eye, but I kind of like it

Her look could melt steel

Overall, great job! I'm sure you'll make lots of $$$ in this market. You may also want to consider giving a discount for those who sign a model release (or, more likely their parents signing it). I'm sure you could get some highly-sellable stock shots out of these sessions too.

Thanks, Don! I picked her 'cause I think she's stunning. And don't worry, I won't use the martini one for anything school related. I was even a bit nervous about showing those to her mom. We assured her the glass was full of water and she really loved them all.

I changed the top picture--the image number was off by one digit. Although I do like the other picture too!

These are great Cindy! Really beautiful. I have no doubt you'll corner the market in no time.

another thought in line with handouts/word of mouth and reaching to other schools is giving her a CD with a few small sized files so she can upload them to her facebook account(she can make comments, link websites, and put down your contact information in a note section for each photo...similar to dpc comments). i know a lot of kids in high school that are on facebook (a huge social networking site) and if she has many people networked as friends (in her school and others), as soon as she loads the photos, every single one of them will be notified of new photos loaded...then they all make comments on them...ask where she had them done...next thing you know your door is being beaten down with HS seniors!

great pics. your work will definately sell itself, just thought i would offer up another angle for free marketing.

also, the photos you release don't have to be huge (maybe 1/2 to 2/3 pixel dimensions of what we upload here).
