So we all just play against each other and see who has the best score at the end of the olympics?

Sounds like a plan to me, LETS DO IT

What about the teams? How will we talk about pictures???

Do you mean show each other your pictures? Cause that wouldn't be allowed obviously :P But if you just wanna discuss scores and stuff you can do it here.

Not allowed by who??? If it was something that you don't want to do that is fine, but as long as we don't vote on our own team pictures were good. That's how it was in DPL.

You make the call it's your world I'm just living in it.

I second this idea. Isn't the olympic idea that everyone participates?
So, if all teams play the same number of rounds and
- the top 4 of each team are used for the team's average and
- the winning team gets a gold, the second a siver,..
At the end of all rounds we have (just like in the olympic games) teams with the most gold, silver,...
???

Sorry I was a bit distracted by minor details such as filing taxes (brrrrr still have the chill)

We still would have to figure out who the overall winner is.
total number all all medals, or gold=3 points, silver=2 points and theam team with the highest number wins - the overall GOLD for the olympic Games

Consider each weekly challenge an event. How many events we do depends on how long we want this to run. The Olympics is generally 2 weeks. That is at the least 4 events - 2 open and 2 member. To be fair to the registered users we may want to stick to open challenges only. I didn't keep tabs on the thread so I don't even know if there are any registered users participating.

I never did the DPL, was it coded on the site that you were unable to vote for your team mates? Or did you just not vote on them when you saw their picture came up?
02/12/2008 09:54:50 PM · #411
Well I just thought we average out all the scores for all challenges. Then see who has the highest.

It was coded that you couldn't vote on your teammate's image.

It's a Decathlon.

If you guys are up for 10 challenges :P that's 2 months of challenges I think. Pretty big competition. Maybe bring it down to 8. The hype for this competition may diminish by the time we get to 8 or 9.

Just means that I might win if I enter all the challenges.

7 is a good number ;o)

I prefer a round robin. There's already been a lot of work and energy poured into creating teams, Yanko's creation of banners and jerseys, etc. Doing all that only to be dropped after one challenge would just be sad.

I also suggest something a little more complex for score: take the top 4 differences between current average and actual score. Reward people who step up their effort for this competition, as opposed to just having the people who always score highly be the people scoring for their teams each week.

That is, for each person, subtract their overall average from that week's score. The four biggest results count.

This'll probably get rejected, but I wanted to at least put it out there.

okay well when everyone knows what they want to do let me know so I can adjust the spreadsheet, thanks.

It's not single knockout. Every team competes in all challenges.

I have absolutely no idea what Levy just said. +\

I totally agree with this idea. Make the winner the team who scores over their averages by the most. :) that evens the playing field so that we do not end up with another ribbon hogs situation.

"There can be only one"

So hows about this:

~ Every team plays each week throughout the length (whatever that ends up) of the tournament.

~ Each week Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd highest averaging team.

~ At the end of the tournament, the country with the most medals wins.

Too simple? Holes?

Like it but with the most above average total being the winner.
