does anyone have any experience with manual lenses on the 5d.. by that i mean lenses with an adapter such as m42, also i have an old micro nikkor 60mm anyone used the nikon to canon converter??? love to hear from you if you have

Yes, I've used the Nikon adapter. I have the Cameraquest "NEOS" version, which I've used with both the 5D and 10D. Very nicely made, but expensive. I've used it with a couple older Nikon super telephotos, including the 200/2.0; A former co-worker is a Nikonian and has some great old glass.
I also use two M42 lenses, the Peleng 8mm fisheye and the Zeiss 75/1.5 Biotar.
Manual focus with the 5D is *much* easier than with the 10D, but if I were doing a lot more of it, I'd invest in the optional Ee-S focus screen.

| cool im thinking of getting a m42 50 1.4 or faster i love shallow dof and i cant afford the 85 1.2!!!! |

Why not just get the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM? It's one hell of a lens.
