Wow...just read this thread now. The Brooklyn Bridge shot is mine. Thanks Dirt_Diver for PM'ing me to let me know about this situation. It sounds like AlexSaberi got some kind of compensation...it is interesting that this guy didn't take down my shot when he was caught with Alex's...since he was warned about both shots being taken from DPC.

It is interesting to note...I have never sold a print of this image EVER. On the other hand, I did sell a different shot of the Brooklyn Bridge last year (which I just found out this morning as well).

I'm not sure what I am going to do about this...I think I'll sit on it today before I start to act. I'm NOT really interested in ruining this guy...but I do feel that I am entitled to some type of compensation. Perhaps the same arrangement as Alex got would be sufficient. On the other hand, this guy is copying work left and right...perhaps he needs more than just a slap on the wrist?

Perhaps, while you negotiate a payment, you could let slip that if he gets caught doing this with someone's already-registered work, he could be liable for $250,000 in damages per violation. He might want to develop a form letter/contract he can send to photographers whose works he'd like to paint ... there are other artists who do this kind of work. I know of one case here where one member got permission to (re)paint another's image -- as I recall, both parties were thrilled with the result.
