Hey guys, I just recently got my smugmug page up and running. It still has a lot of work needed to get the customization where I want it, but feel free to check it out and give me your opinions, both positive and negative. The URL is rinkshots.com. Thanks!

Site seems nice for only just hitting the web. Complaints...? Yeah, maybe a few.
You have some wonderful hockey photos, but the big PROOF across all of them is distracting as heck! Was this for anti-piracy sake? If so...too bad. Also...I couldn't tell from the shots I looked at, but what team is USU? Utah State? And MSU? Michigan State? Missouri State? Should maybe change the titles of your galleries so that we who have no clue can tell whats going on without a scorecard! :)
Whats with the locked galleries? When I saw that, I tried and tried to get into them. None of the passwords I came up with got me past the gate. Seeing how nice the hockey photographs were, I really would like to see more of your work. Liked your DPC portfolio alot.
I'm done! I whine alot but I am not really dangerous!!!

The watermark is for anti-piracy, unfortunately. I am in the process of coming up with my own logo/watermark, that will not be so distracting, but I haven't finished it yet. As for the team names, I can see exactly what you mean. I will get those changed some time today.

The password is there because those are the youth games (3-7 year olds). It was the safest way to keep any parents from complaining about me putting pictures of their kids up for sale to the entire world. So I just added the password, and gave it out just the the parents of the kids. I just don't want to have any problems with any of the parents that may not want their childs picture up for the entire world to see/buy.

No worries. I really appreciate what you had to say. There are definitely some good points that I had missed. That's why I like to have third parties evaluate my site, especially people that know a bit about photography and business. Thank you very much.

I second this one. I was able to customize mine quite a bit using the cut and paste method from their tutorials. Especially this one: //dgrin.smugmug.com/gallery/2160039

Eric, I think your watermark on your site is very unobtrusive. I had something very similar to that in mind, in fact. Thanks for the link to the tutorial. I will make sure I make full use of all of the cut and pasting that is available. That is how I have got to where I currently am. Thanks again.

Hey nice site... like mentioned above your watermark on the images is to big... Really nice images by the way.
Try to make yourself a header (an image on the very top of your website) and maybe see if you can make your slideshow images bigger or remove all that big gray space behind your images during your slideshow. If you want a clean looking site you can only show your slideshow on your website and hide that gallery catergories box. Also you can hide some of those links in your footer.

Ryan, I love your site. It is awesome, and your photography is stunning. Very nice work. I found the tutorial to shorten my footer even more, and remove all unnecessary links. Thank you. I also found the coding to change the slide show so that the photo takes up all but a very small space around the photo now. It should be looking better. I plan on adding a banner on top, as soon as I have a logo designed. I'm halfway done with that right now. The thing is, I am so used to using Photoshop, but I want to design the logo in a vector-based program so that I can use it at any size for any purpose. I have to learn how to do that part still.

a very nice start to the site, scott. i've found the DGrin people very helpful indeed in customizing mine: CSPStudio. if you see anything you like there, ask and i'll tell you how i did it, or point you to the right forum thread on smugmug to see where i got the help from.

Very nice slideshow its working just fine in safari on my mac but in firefox on my mac the slideshow wont run.... its not only your website its mine also so I posted a question over on Dgrin. They should check out and respond hopefully. UPDATE.... I fixed mine I think (lol)...my slideshow is showing in firefox now
but again nice photos love those hockey shots

Make sure you have external links turned on for the gallery that you are using for your slide show...... they have to be on for the Slideshow to work in all browsers
