Could a list (w/abridged descriptions) of pending site improvements/changes be placed somewhere within the 'Web Site Suggestions' forum?
I had seen a post by a S.C. member who stated that a particular site suggestion by someone was already on a 'to do' list. I think it would save a lot of reiteration of ideas if they were known to be 'upcoming' in some form in the future.
Just a thought.

And maybe encourage members to renew / non-members to sign up as they can see what's coming to enhance the site/service?
Not that it isn't great already of course! :-) |

I third this idea with the addition of a priority list so we know what is firstmost in the pipeline. I won't ask for potential dates as that would (I'm sure) start a bunch of why ain't it happened yet threads... |

I also think a public "to do" is a great idea... but wait, it will have to go to the bottom of the "to do" list, LOL.
Seriously, a public list could also give folks a chance to submit their thoughts on the items being worked on. I see a "public to do list" providing several potential benefits:
- As stated above, much less clutter & rehash in the forums
- A great way to keep all the user feedback straight, since it's all in one place
- Definitely would provide incentive to those considering membership/renewal
- Increased feeling of user "connectedness" with site management; always a good thing.

You know, you make some very valid points there. I really do think it would clear up some confusion on several points.
But then again, it's kinda fun to have that element of surprise that Drew and Langdon are so good at. ;)

I can't speak for D&L, but one of the biggest reasons they are not likely to want to post the list is because it contains ideas that are likely to never be implemented, even if they are good ideas, because of the effort involved. Putting them on a public list would give the idea some sort of "official" recognition, unlike a random post to this forum. Whenever I see an idea here that has some merit, I add it to the list for their consideration (as do other SC members).
In addition, the list is not in any way prioritized, nor is there any timeframe associated with any of the items. It is just a simple list. D&L have full-time jobs (and DPC is not it), so they work on the site as they can. In addition, D&L have their own ideas for the site which are not part of the list, which I'm sure are the "highest priority" items.
It isn't like any of the ideas are "hidden"; the list I made was obtained by simply reading through 6 months or so of posts to this forum... which is why when I see an idea, I can usually say "that has been already suggested", because it will sound familiar... =]
I understand the desire to have a list, but I don't think it would stop people from posting duplicate suggestions. It is a long list, and just like people don't take the time to search this forum before they post, they probably wouldn't read the list either...

Eddy, take a look at Mantis or other bug/feature tracking systems. These systems work for bugs and suggestions.
When someone submits an idea, it could be given a "status", which could indicate that it's something of importance, or not something they'd ever do. Further, they can post a quick explanation there, and at the very least, it's an organized way to keep track of these changes. People can search for open items and see there's no reason to submit the suggestion again if it's on the list or if it's been marked as not to be implemented.
