Did you read the agreement page?
The sale of photographic products or commercial licensing of images displayed on the MaxPreps site is incidental to the mission of MaxPreps to inform the public about high school sports though its data, editorial content and images.
Hmm...you get maybe 70%*, they get to use your images forever (in perpetuity means forever, right?). they get rights to edit, crop, enhance your images without your consent. They get to keep the info about those that view your images - so you get no customer database possibilities.
* Upon the sale and delivery of photographic prints and/or digital files to consumers, Member shall earn a royalty of eighty (80) percent of the net proceeds.
Net proceeds are defined as the total sale price (not including shipping and handling charges or sales tax, if applicable) of a product sold, minus the cost of production, order processing and marketing. Generally, the production, processing and marketing expense represent approximately ten (10) percent of the sale price.
If you want to make money at this type of thing, then you're better off to do it yourself IMO. If you go and shoot anyway and just want to roll the dice that any money made is a bonus, then perhaps consider this.
Remember, you have to have permission to shoot games and kids for profit! If you put them on your own website then you know what's happening to the images. If you've turned them over to a third party (whom you've released from liability on this issue) then you are at the whim of the winds on what happens.
