Okay, so I took my favorite self portrait and re-edited it. What do you think. Below is the old and then the new.

No voting after work, long lines there is going to be, not looking forward. I think I like the second better too!

The new edit is more flattering and the lighting now draws my eye to the blue stone in the ring. (which I overlooked the first time I looked at this shot, a few weeks ago)

I too like the 2nd one best. If I had my druthers... I think one of the pics with you smiling is better yet. Ok...you didn't ask that. But you have a gorgeous smile. So sue me! ;-)>

Im going to work on one of those and re-edit today. I don't know why, but all of a sudden, things are just falling in place for me, I can understand so many things now, when just a few months ago, I didn't know nothing. I love photography, and it's nice to see when you are improving.

Jamie

I do like the second one best although in a challenge I wonder how well either would score as my gut feeling is that there would still be a number of people who felt your dof was wrong!!!???

Just a thought, why not see what it would look like if you blurred the face even more (Happy to give you a walk through on how this could be done if you are new to Photoshop (I use PSE5) so that the features became indistinct (ie you could see that there was a female head but the eyes etc would be almost indistinguishable. That might give the pointing hand (which by the way is very cool) even more pop.

There is also a very very good tutorial by fotomann-forever on black and white conversions (I appreciate yours is not a full B&W but desat) which I found has given my B&Ws a real boost (check out the pics in my tutorial to see before and after examples)

Very nice shots though and I can definitely see you comp scores going upwards

I use photoshop elements 6.0, so I would love a walk through for any suggestions you might have. I just did some more re-edits, I posted in a different thread. Tell me what you think.
Thanks a lot!
