I mean I have been getting comments on images that some people say are too bright some say are too dark and some say other things. This leads me to believe people are judging without seeing a decent image. This would seem to be almost as bad as trolls. Should there not be a standard some form of test when you sign up you must pass so your voting is acurate? Just my opinion. What is yours?

I think everyone should go for a lasik surgery to see better... it's not equipment problem, it's personal :P

Its a bit of both. There are lots of people that don't know what callibrating your monitor even does. When I started i had no idea. That being said a lot of LCD monitors come with factory settings that are unuseable. I have a 22" LG I bought about 8months ago. When I got it, it was so bright I couldn't use it until I callibrated it.

Of course there is also the personal factor where everyone will have differing opinions. Unless DPC wants to send everyone a Spyder when they sign up, there is no solving this problem.

maybe if you ignored these types of threads ( seeing as they make you angry ) you wouldn't be in such a bad mood - and DPC might be more enjoyable ?

This is why I stay a registered user and not a member. I left DPC for quite a while and have just recently come back, but now I'm thinking of leaving again.

I realize this is a bit harsh and I'm in a bad mood but I think it's getting crazy.

on topic - i calibrate my monitor regularly with a spyder2 express ( about $90 USD ) and as mentioned i have a 22" LG and it was impossible to even get close to calibrated by eye ( unlike my old CRT ) - and the software that came with it was useless - also was way to frickin' bright OOB.

How ironic. You are complaining about a guy complaining.

On topic I have calibrated mine and feel it is much better now than it was. You can get a Huey pretty cheap.

Well I got a comment in Birds II that said my white balance was off. Nevermind that it was converted to b/w. The point being I wish the problem was actually the equipment people use.
