This is probably a lame question, but can anybody explain to me what the extra date means (jan 14)in the advanced editing challenges, I'm sort of out of the loop right now?

I think it's the date the rules were revised because of the "Time Lapse" issue that got hammered into the ground. |

It means the new version of the rules released January 14.

Note that the January Free Study is being run under "Rules: Advanced Editing VI ("Time Lapse")", for comparison; because those rules were in effect at the time the challenge was announced, and even though they are no longer current rules, that challenge will be the last gasp of the "time lapse" rule set.
