Hello all, I am considering an idea that helps photographers cut cost. I am currently thinking of selling 13x19 inch canvas prints for approx. $25.00 plus S&H. Canvas printing seems to be a new medium to display prints, but it is also very expensive to have done. My prints would not include the stretcher frames it would only be the canvas print. Any feedback would be appreciated as I am currently in the process of thinking of ways to help the beginning photography community cut cost but still deliver top notch quality.

I don't get it, are you selling these prints to clients or photographers?

If you are talking about selling photos you take of clients to clients, well then you are way off. Also I think you are defeating the purpose of a canvas print by not including the stretcher frame.

The stretching part is the costly part and is not usually a diy project.

Speaking of stretching the canvas...

What I've generally found is that having the place that is printing the canvas also do the stretching, in general ends up costing more than if you have the place that is doing the framing also do the stretching.

So if your ultimate goal is a Gallery Wrap Canvas, then by all means, have the printers also do the stretching.

But if you plan to mount the print inside of a frame, then buy the canvas unstretched and let the framers do the work.

This makes my idea seem more valid and useful.
