There is a chance I may enter a photography contest around here, but I'm not sure which one to enter. If anyone could take the time to look through my portfolio and give me opinions on which is the most appropriate, it would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks

Are there specific topics for the challenge?
01/25/2008 12:33:52 PM · #3
Nope, you can enter anything you want.

As long as it's digital it's allowed.

These are my favorites of the photos in your porfolio

A little dark (mood, not exposure), but the most impressive, IMO.

I like these:

(possibly prefer the first one, it's very expressive)

I don't think i'll enter the dark mood photo :P

My flower portrait seems a bit cliche. But i am considering it

Any other opinions?

Have you seen past results from this contest (assuming it's been held before)?
That could give you an idea what style of entries the judges prefer.

Actually it's the first annual contest. So there are no results to look at :P

Okay, so far it's between the mirror shot and the yellow flower portrait.

This one really grabs my attention as well. It's got a mysterious quality that transcends the processing. I also like the "Johnny Come Lately" photo. Great title, BTW!

lol, the title came from a song that stuck in my head :P I just randomly named it "Johnny come lately"

Is this an online or print contest? If print, what size will you be submitting?
02/01/2008 06:27:41 PM · #23
Print contest, uhh i'm actually not sure what size i will be submitting at. Probably around 8 x 10

I'd go bigger than 8x10. Find out what the max size is including the matte and go for the largest that fits in the criteria. Unless your image has tonnes of impact, an 8x10 will get lost in a sea of larger images.

it says 8.5 by 11 is the largest. So 8 by 10 should be sufficient.
