The other day, I tried to have my camera and a pocket wizard talk to each other.

I have a 1d M2.

I have two Pocket Wizards.

So there are no questions, except for those that don't read OP's, the camera was on manuel, a PW was in the hot shoe.

The PW was on 1 and camera.

A cable, one provided from PW, was inserted into the correct holes of the camera, and the PW.

The second PW was also on the number 1 and camera.

Now the thing is...

...it did not fire.

The camera looked at me like a deer in head lights and didn't do a thing.

I tried different things.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

you are using the wrong cord.

You don't need the pocket wizard in the hot shoe if you don't want to, that is only if you want it to fire some strobes (remotely)

You need a cord that goes from the pocket wizard to the 'N3' connector slot on your camera.. there are two cords on bhphoto that do this

this cord

this cord

you could also try looking on ebay for a cord. I can't attest that the ebay cords work, but they are definatly cheaper and might work. i can tell you next week (i just ordered one)

That cord you are trying to use is the cord that goes from the camera to the pocket wizard in the case that you don't want to trigger the pocket wizard via the hot shoe.
