I GOT A BROWN RIBBON! - DPChallenge Forums

Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM

For a long time I have been vaguely bummed out that I have come close to, but never received, a Brown Ribbon. The closed I ever came was (I thought) 243rd out of 244 entries. But I was reading the "who has the most 1's" thread, and checked out that entry to see how it ranked, and guess what?

I ACTUALLY FINISHED LAST! 244th was a DQ image!

And here it is, my wonderful brown ribbon shot, receiving its proper recognition at last! It got 65 votes of 1, btw, balanced by (get this) four 10's...

Now if I could just get a Posthumous award, I could die happy. Does that make sense? Think about it...

I too could die happy with a yappie, oobie, or posthumous award. I really dont even want a real ribbon.

Is DPC the only place where you can get a posthumous award while you're still alive?

Funny how last place is actually an achievment around here. Seems that I can't really get one by trying, though.

Yep. And the darn thing is a lot harder to get than your average ribbon, too!

Are you aware that he and I are literally almost neighbors? He lives in the next town down from me on Cape Cod. Here he is:

Hey Bear I got you beat. I been Brownie runner up three times. And on one I had 105 1s, 59 2s and 92 3s and still couldn't do it. Just not good enought I guess. :) Van

I was in Cape Cod once (around 1981) and it didn't suck, but rather (the wind) blew consistently and forcefully. How do you get those marsh pictures without the vegetation blowing all over the place?
