David's thread doesn't cite this guy, which I found announced on the Canon website this morning.
I don't see an MSRP, but I'm guessing this one better be a cheapie. With the 30-700 IS around, what exactly is the point of this lens? Unless it's $200 or shoots sharp like the 70-200 series... =) |

I didn't see that ... Hmmm, since it's EF-S, I wonder if it's meant to complement the Kit lens. Buy the camera with the kit lens, and get this one too, and you've pretty much got everything you need for a low end system.

Looks that way, which I suppose is good for those shopping for entry-level gear.

| This lens is already available in Europe and costs between 250-300 euro , 70-300 IS costs ~500e. I suppose in dollars would cost the same amount. |
