I shot a basketball game tonight and had some problems. Made it through 3 quarters of the girls game shot 50 photos. The low battery light came on. I have the extra battery grip. I could turn the camera off then on and take a few photos then low battery again. When I turned the camera back on it showed full charge. I went out to the car and got another battery and the other cameras D-70s. Came in same thing couple of shots low battery. I went back and put 6 AAs in the battery holder. This showed full power. took a photo same thing low bat. I had the 70-200 f2.8 glass on I have noticed the past couple of days it has been jumpy on focusing. So I changed lenses. I put the 18 to 70 on the D-200 and the 70-200 on the D-70s. The focus on the D-70 with the 200 lens was smooth. The D-200 showed full power with the 18-70 and worked for all the boys game. Has to be something with the 200 glass. But it worked great with the D-70 I do not under stand does anyone have any ideas?

I wish I could give you a URL but I've been hearing that the 70-200 has problems with contact resistance. So be sure the contacts on the lens and camera are clean.

Would that cause a low bat problem?

It causes a false reading apparently. I couldn't find the message over at Nikonians.
If you go over there and search the Nikkor lens forum or
the D200 forum you might find references to the problem you are having. If either or both your camera, or lens, are still in warranty you should bring this to Nikon's attention.
