Hi all,

Am really interested in photography, and have moved from a compact to an entry level DSLR. Can anybody advise me on a really good book to help me understand photography and my camera better?

Thanks!

My favorite book on photography is "Understanding Exposure"

Composition you can learn by shooting a lot. Exposure isn't quite as intuitive. This book really helped me out. (Hmm...I keep plugging this book. Maybe they ought to pay me!)

Books? why? you have DPC, no one needs "books" here... You have question, ask, you want to know how it's done, search... badabim, badabom. Save your money and time... shoot a lot, experience... But if you want certification, take a course :) go to NYI, like I do :)

Thanks, DPC is great, but I like to be able to flick through a book at my own leisure - probably on the sofa or in bed! Plus I don't currently have internet at home!!!

I'dd say Photography by John Freeman should be on your reading list.

This is the one single book that changed the way I shot photos. Head & shoulders above the crowd.

Here is a tip for you... you can probably find this book and many others at your local library.
