Anyone have an idea on what steps needed to do an album cover? A friend of mines asked me if I knew how to do it and although i told him no, I could look up information on how to do one and probably do it for him (free of service charges). So any info would help.

Thanks

wedding album? music album (prolly not that, who uses 'album' in that context anymore).

Not sure what you're asking. The 'cover' IS the album. google TAP or taprell loomis.

Sorry I forgot that part. It's a music album. I'm assuming he means CD cover for him and his group.

Is he expecting you to do the typography as well, or just the artwork?

You'll need the photos, the factual information, maybe some clip-art (e.g. CD Logo) and typefaces needed, and an idea of the style the band wants. A layout template is usually available from the CD replicator. Work at a minimum of 300 dpi at 100% of the final print size.

You may also need to obtain/create a UPC bar code if they really intend to get this into distribution.

I would assume that they need the typography. Of course I'd have to get acquainted with their music to know their style and consult them with what type of photos they want. The UPC I would have to ask about. I think they are starting out underground so this is more for them to sell out of their cars.

Any particular place good for the print job?
