I have joined DPC relatively recently and missed out on last season's DPL. When the new one is announced I'd like to participate.
I've been reading through the DPL threads and there seems to be an amount of controversy about teams and co-operative submissions (e.g. final selection, edits) causing concerns about fairness and pro versus am - which got me thinking...
How about seeding individuals rather than teams for DPL v2? The great news is that scores/experience/ability is quantified so seeding individuals shouldn't be that difficult. Then, like Fantasy Sports teams, you have a number of points to allocate to the DPL team, ensuring a mix of pro to novice. Then you don't get teams full of regular ribboners, and those with the experience get to share it more.
Two downsides I can see:
- where's the upside for the higher seeds/pros? It's one thing sharing help but all the time might detract from the fun for those with a lot of experience after a while
- teams and friendships are already formed...breaking it up might do more harm than good, plus all the type A personalities and OCDers will freak out :)

| This was also discussed. I didn't follow all the threads, but I think for the most part people wanted to form their own teams, rather than trying to make all the teams exactly equal. Both points of view had many pros and cons. |
