A friend of mine just bought a Mac and has Aperature on it as his editing software. I am not very familiar with that program, I use CS3. What do people think of it? Strengths? Weaknesses?
Thanks,

I would treat as more of a photo management/workflow compliment to CS3.
The Adobe competition for Aperature is Lightroom. I've heard good things about both, except that Lightroom does not work well with Leopard pending an update from Adobe. |

A few people have reported having trouble with Lightroom on Leopard, but not everyone is.
It's working great on my system so far. |

I agree that aperture is definitely a competitor to LightRoom rather than PhotoShop. I've tried both now and am still stalled trying to decide between the two.

Aperture and Photoshop are not in the same league nor are they on par with each other. Lightroom was made to compete with Aperture. It's mostly for Raw tweaking and photo management. Personally I like Aperture and used to use it alot, but they don't have an update yet to work with D3 RAW files, so I barley touch it now. It supports the RAW files for my D200, but I use the D200 mostly as a back up now and the D3 as my primary body. |
