One other thing: truth, unlike pesto, is relative and often disappointing.

I've learned that duplicating the background image twice, desaturating both layers and inverting one of them, then setting both layers to overlay, does good things for a (too) hazy looking shot.

You are soooo right on this. It's like buying 50 bucks printer and payin 70 bucks for its ink. Lenses are mega-stupid expensive and you (most people) are sacrificing a lot (from your work) by finding cheap-good ones.

ARGH...

That reading this thread is no use, and posting into this thread is more waste of time.
Reading this message will also be waste of time. (But not for me though)

What real hospitality is.
How to make the best Shashlik.
That honey from Bashkortostan is the best honey there is.
That I can not ski (after breaking the fence... on the kiddy slope)
That a banja is a very nice place to be.
That one and a half bottle of good vodka leaves no headache.
What Nikah means. (because I am now married according to it)

I take kind of boring pictures
I can't force myself to do something I don't want to
My camera's screen is very deceptive.. very..
Never walk on ice covered nature trails without the proper footwear..
Never say no when you don't mean it..
More memory is always good..
Never take pictures with the sky in it because it will always overexpose.. the woes of using a p&s..

- yesterday I've learned that I can come up with good ideas
- today I've learned that I get renewed energy from new plans
- today I've learned that I can conquer my insecurity and enter an international photography challenge. shaking and sweating, but I did it :D

I've learned that a woody doesn't help much when testing our your new strobist setup. Can't judge skin tones without a live model with real skin.

It doesn't matter how much memory you take on a trip if you lose your battery charger.
For telephoto shots, the background will make or break the photo.
Photographing people on overcast days gets good results. Photographing furry animals that move a lot on overcast days is another matter.
People seem to like my photography - which is nice.
My Canon 420EX flash works when other people use my camera but not when I do.
SlideshowPro and SlideshowPro Director have made my time to publish MUCH quicker.
I live in New York City, but seem to be unable to photograph it.
