Is it ok to use a photograph in your portfolio with a name brand product, for example: Bottle of Coca Cola
Or is that some kind of copyright infringement unless the photograph was part of a paid assigment? |

I'm not a lawyer, but if I was, I'd sue you. And not necessarily for use of brands, but for something, I assure you. |

i literally just sat down with one of my teachers at school and we talked about this very question...
for sake of liability (and hers...she was very careful with how we talked and how things were worded)...this is by no means legal advice and if you have a serious questions get a lawyer...
the company can sue if you use their image, even if you dont make money on it, if they can prove it is used in assiocation with something they dont approve (I.E. if pepsi was anti-digital photography, or more realistic, didnt wanted to be shown next to a beer bottle...). its always a good idea to get SOMETHING down on paper saying you have permission. worse comes to worse, if a company does come after you, just do whatever they say and take the pictures off the site..
