same here... Keith said Hickson Rd parking would work (I think) I will be there at 5am as well. Where should we all meet? |

I agree that there is plenty of parking at that time of morning on Hickson Rd - I normally park at a little car park at Dawes Point park. That sort of limits us to the big 2 landmarks although we have plenty of time to walk somewhere else if we meet at 5am - got at least half an hour before the sky starts to light up.
Dawes point park

Thanks Tim
I'll look for a car park at Dawes Point then.
Perhaps I can convince hubby to drop me off....

Sorry, I won't be able to make it, a-gain. :( Got a family do that day, and can't really skip it because it's for my birthday.
Hope you all have fun though!

the floods here are bad. :(
2 kids are missing feared drowned.. another boys body was found yesterday and a couple also drowned... some rescuers had to be rescued here too.. Western Sydney seems the worst hit, but I was driving home on the freeway the other night and I have never driven in such bad weather ever.. couldnt see 2 feet in front of me and the fog was like it was the middle of winter. |

Is rain forecast? No good for harbour walkabouts. How about the next Sunday?
South Creek, where the boys went missing, flows behind my opposite neighbour's and winds down to join the Hawkesbury at Windsor. The land opposite us has only just been built on, which I'm glad of because my son was always adventuring there while it was vacant.
I couldn't sleep Monday night for listening to the downpour. I had to get down to Penrith in the Morning to finish enrolling in a design course and I kept imagining the water rising and being cut off in that funny half asleep state. The predicitions for loss of life in this area if there is another flood like the 1867 one is huge according to the study I read. They've recently finished a long high bridge that crosses South Creek for flood evacuation. And there are all kinds of plans for the event, like busing people out!?!
When I first moved here I was really freaked out after reading the stories of the Great Flood of 1867. I have friends whose ancestors drowned in it and there is a memorial for them somewhere, I'm told.
The police think the boys may have scrambled out of the creek somewhere and are too scared to tell their parents. I hope that is the case.

I'll be there for sure, hail rain or shine. Although if it is shining at 5am then there really is something wrong with the weather...
