This is a view (from a moving van) of the Ford factory in Dagenham, East London, only a short drive from here. I was born in Dagenham. Anyway, the factory used to produce loads of cars and seems now to be only an assembly plant for a couple of models and a staging post for cars imported to this country. My wife's new car spent a couple of weeks there after being built in Spain and Italy, having the roof put right, before it was shipped out to us.
Shot using ISO 1600 (and even then I only got a shutter speed of 1/50), so it's terribly grainy.

Day 25 -
And a bonus from Monday's shelter shots -
I found a bird I've not included in this side challenge for my Bird entry. Hard to believe there's yet another local bird I haven't shown you, isn't it ::grin:: ? |

Melons for ammo for our air cannons to launch tomorrow at a big party out in the countryside, near the Everglades. The ferns in the foreground are the ones growing in the tub in the earlier post. Last year there were about 200 invited to the party from around the state. We will be using both cannons again, so we can compete, launching the melons at targets at 1/4 mile and 1/2 mile down range. I get a smile seeing ladies that arrive in chauffeur driven limos when they launch a melon and get all excited about it and want to do it again. Launching melons seems to dissolve the boundaries between people, and has universal appeal for some reason. The bin box of melons, about 75 of them was $100 US, which is less than ammo for most rifles. Melons are overly plentiful here right now because the market sort of stops when it is so cold north of here.
The azaleas are in the yard across the road from my home, you can see them in the background in the shot of the melons. They mow the back yard about once every 2 months so it is a bit overgrown. The old man who lived alone there died a couple of years ago, and the place has been unoccupied since then. The flowers in this shot have had no care at all for about 2 years now.
Weatherman says 73F, light breeze and clear skies tomorrow..... ; P

Took Petey and Pickles on our daily walk and we were surprised to see that the young eagle from yesterday decided to retaliate!
And this guy, I know it's a booty shot and it's not the best, but I loved the way his talons looked!
I hope everyone's weekend has started off well! |

Hey all, sorry I have not been able to keep up...Life got Crazy. Ash had two competitions out of state, turned 13, got a real bad cold, and work went nuts. I think I can jump back in this weekend....sorry.

As usual I got carried away today. I played tourist in Hanalei and took some interesting shots. Please do not feel obligated to comment on all of them, choose something you like and give a comment.
A sign in Hanalei complete with Geckos. Or, Geico is subliminally advertising everywhere in Kaua`i.
A cute little boutique in Hanalei
The old Hanalei School is now a shopping center
The Bikini Room in Hanalei
The rapids in the stream that runs through the parking lot

Day 26 -
Also from yesterday's backyard shots. Having bird feeders is a wonderful thing ... assuming you like to watch birds, of course, and in my case take their little pictures.
Right now the sky is that flat, boring gray that makes a lousy backdrop for anything. But that might mean some more snow, so who knows what opportunities may come my way later today.
BTW, this challenge has resulted in me scrambling to keep my comments made/given ratio at 2:1 the past few weeks. You guys have been awesomely generous with comments :-) |

At Canary Wharf today. I just about live there, I'm there so much. This one is taken from almost the same position as on the twelfth, but looking in the opposite direction. The rather lovely early morning light was washing out pretty quickly as we got there and so this was taken from inside a moving van. I shot off a quick burst and this was the least blurry of the lot.

Too tired to explain. Good party, good food, good fun. The last two shots are the same melon.

I had a devil of a time uploading this 'cause I wanted to do a full-size file. This is a perfect example of how PhotoShop can "Save" an image. I liked this shot, but because of the 20 second exposure, I had a lot of garbage and movement from the ducks, so I was able to clone out the "Fast" ducks, and the canvas helps to cover up the garbage. I really like the end result, and I'm not sure I would have even bothered to save this image without PS. What do you think?
